The double-medicine curriculum Sciences Faculty of Medicine Pierre and Marie Curie was introduced for the first time in September 2008.
How to participate?
We must send a cover letter and resume to the right then pass an oral interview. Following this interview, 20 students are selected to participate in this course. The purpose of the interview is to assess the motivation and interest in research. Therefore, the questions focus more on identifying and projects of the candidate on his scientific knowledge.
And then?
Teaching, which requires a significant personal work includes courses, ED, TP, analysis articles.
PCEM2
160 hours of training, distributed as follows:
120 hours (or four weeks of instruction) in December and April, the EU instead of M1.
40 hours, in the form of two hours per week throughout the year
In the first half:
The courses are prepared by a physician-researcher, Jean-Louis Sikorav. The physical level is high, but it is not necessary to understand everything or to master all subjects but especially to acquire a certain openness.
Topics covered: Theory of evolution, genetic material, Symmetry, Biopolymers, Membranes, Brownian movements, chromosomes and cell division, Natural Selection.
In the second half:
Many teachers involved in this semester.
Subjects: Analysis of articles, Protein structure, Mitochondria, Epigenetics, intracellular trafficking, DNA repair, Carcinogenesis.
DCEM1
- 160 hours, distributed similarly to PCEM2
- A training course in search of 4 months between May and late September. Validation of research training and teaching allow registration in Master 2.
Master 2
The following year, it is strongly advised students to make a two year Master of Science in School or at the ENS. This is a "pause" in their studies of medicine or pharmacy, they can concentrate fully on their research work for one year.
Science thesis
Within this curriculum, students are instead encouraged to resume their studies after their medical M2, to validate in good conditions considering the national ranking. Interested students will need to make their case during the internship.
